Well I finished porting the heads. Tomorrow I'll bring them back to G&R for bigger valves and to mill them down.

I tried to snap some pics but this camera stinks,

Are they going to put them on a flow bench?

Flowing them cost more than porting them.
How much did you take them down, or did you just
smooth them out?

I pretty much followed these instructions.

http://www.mustangcentral.net/tech/e7.html

I open the intake port, smothed out the pushrod bump and cut down and tapered the valve guide boss.

I didn't get a chance to get them back to G&R, fighting with the leaves and watching my Jets loose :( this weekend. I'll have them out next saturday!

What did you use to grind them out?

What did you use to grind them out?

die grinder ($9.99 special from harbor freight)
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Category.taf?CategoryID=323&pricetype=

and carbide burs
http://www.carbidebur.com/bursmain.html

the next day your head rattles from the compressor and die grinder, plus everything taste like metal, but all in the name of more power.

FYI - Northern Tool (one of our affiliates here) also carries this same stuff.

Hey Mikel is there any way to pull that up,(Northern Tool) or do you
just have to wait till it pops up sometime. I go to links and race tracks .
I just bought off set wrenches from Harbor Frieght Tools.
Looked for the Northern tool banner first.

I was thinking about building a list of our associates and putting it up somewhere on the site... Give me some time, I'll put it on my "to-do" list.

JZ, did you also open up the intake/exhaust ports ?

I did a set of heads last year on a Chevy motor....very DIRTY work.
The garage was an absolute mess.

Yep, rounded off the exhaust port and straightened the intake out. Ford leaves a big bump in the intake passage where the pushrod tube passes.

Drop the heads back off at G&R for bigger valves, valve job and mill down. He said the ports look pretty good,

getting closer
