Not me. I had some issues with my driveshaft loop and the weather.
I'm going for some T&T next Saturday or Sunday, then to E-town on the 1st.

Probably LID. It's close, and if the car breaks it's a short ride home.
Plus, I can probably get 30 or 40 runs in!

No, it's Westhampton. Long Island Motorsports Park.
It's a dump, though. The timers don't work half the time, the track isn't prepped very good, etc.

I guess I'm the lucky one that got to go racing last Saturday. Ran in T/M and ET HVY. Lost in 1st round of thophy; had the guy beat but I forgot to lift and broke out by .05 Won the 1st round of HVY, cut a .009 light and ran a 12.306 on a 12.30 dial ( the drag racin' gods smiled down on me....if, for only a short while. 2nd round, cut a -.077. It was a real scorcher that day and the air was lousey early on, but got better as the day wore on, as did the track surface. It rained on Friday, so the track was slick at first but got better as some rubber was laid down. Had some cooling issues to deal with, along with electrical problems, but I got 7 passes in so all in all I was happy. Today, I made-up a new battery box and installed 2 batterys in series, so next time out I won't have to get a jumper pack from the tower (like I did on Sat) if my charging system takes a crap again. It goes back to that underdrive pulley which I put on the alternator. I like the pulley, but it doesn't charge worth a damn.[/img]

If you had a hand-held weather station, one that told you that the air was changing, you would've been able to adjust your dial properly!
Nice runs in Heavy, though.
Watch this space for more information. Coming soon!

Ah, what the hell. I'll let the cat out of the bag.
I have a functioning prototype of a hand-held weather station. It's about the size of a pack of cigarettes right now, I'm hoping to make it smaller.
It's got a 9 pin serial port on it, it sends it's data out to a laptop, iPaq, PalmPilot or similar hand-held device. The software on those devices gives your up to the second weather information: Temperature, True Relative Humidity, Dew Point, Absolute Barometric Pressure, Actual Vapor Pressure, Virtual Temperature, Air Density, Densitity Altitude, Relative Horsepower. These readings, along with prior run data are used to predict your next ET. All of the data for your run (car, driver, weight, incremental times, tire pressures, carb jetting, blah, blah, blah) are stored along with the weather data for future comparison.
It's still in the "testing/debugging" phase, I'm hoping to have it ready for sale before the beginning of next season.
Target introductary price is in the $250 range. Might be less, might be more. Of course, you would have to supply your own laptop or handheld device. I would provide the weather station, appropriate cable and the software for your device.
Would you be interested in something like that?
When I have it with me at the track I've got people looking over my shoulder all day long to see what it's doing!
Do you race at Englishtown? Will you be there on Aug 1st? I'd like to take a look at the weather station.

Yes, I race at E-Town. August 1st is a points day, so as long as it's not raining and my car is still working, I'll be there.
Like I said - it's still a prototype, not near a finished product. But I'll show you what I've got.

I split the "cooling" piece of this thread into it's own thread:

Hey Mikel sounds like a cool product you're working on. I'd be interested in getting one when you start making them for sale.
